Jamb Stud Design For Internal Doorways

Q. What is the strongest, most reliable way to frame up for internal doorways?

A. The good news is that there is a better way than the commonly used options: boxed studs or timber inside steel studs. The timber/steel stud combination is cumbersome, is rarely installed correctly (no, a piece of pine casually laid into the jamb stud is not sufficient!) and is a common cause of defect notices. Besides being slower, the boxed studs option is not an ideal fit at the track connection.

The strongest and most reliable method is to use Studco’s HEDA® jamb steel studs. It’s super strong, it’s  quick and it’s easier all round. And it’s by far the most cost effective method…
