Recessed window pelmets for modern designs

Minimalistic interior design focuses on simple clean lines and hidden details that help to create harmonious spaces. As part of creating a seamless interior, window fixings and blind tracks are often concealed within recessed pelmets built directly into the ceiling line. This ensures that hardware remains entirely out of sight, preserving the clean lines of the space and drawing the external, natural environment into the room. EZ Concept’s EzyPelmet® is a two-piece recessed pelmet system engineered to take the complicated parts out of pelmet construction.

What is a recessed pelmet?

A recessed pelmet, also known as a shade pocket or hidden pocket, is a recessed channel which sits above a window to conceal elements such as window blinds, curtain tracks, or lighting. Window pelmets are a key element for achieving a minimalist design in different settings. By utilizing a shade pocket to conceal hardware or lighting fixtures, the overall style of the space changes, and is improved by smooth lines replacing clunky-looking fixtures, creating an inconspicuous ceiling pocket and sets the view from windows at center stage.

The EzyPelmet Recessed Window Pelmet difference

Traditionally, recessed pelmets are manually constructed from wood, MDF fireboards, and drywall. The process to construct a pelmet in this way is tedious and time-consuming; requiring a lengthy installation process, additional fixings and construction requirements, and extra finishing considerations when installing drywall and painting. The constructed pelmet is subject to warping, undulation, and cracking over time, making the opportunity cost even greater when repairs and maintenance are required.

The EzyPelmet is not subject to the same complications as traditional pelmets. Comprised of A60 Zincanneal coated steel, EzyPelmet is EZ Concept’s pre-folded shade pocket that provides a durable solution. EzyPelmet is assembled by connecting its two pieces, wall track and pelmet. The track section is fixed to either the window or ceiling, then the pelmet section easily slots into the track to form the complete EzyPelmet. As a single steel length, the pelmet is not at risk of the same issues as its wood or MDF fiberboard counterparts. No further preparation is required before painting in with the rest of the ceiling.

Pelmet lighting can be fixed directly to create an elegant glow which follows the window. The lights themselves are hidden, whilst the illuminated glow is carried below the ceiling line. Alternatively, drapes or curtains can be fixed via a track directly connected to the pelmet. They are hidden when raised, but when lowered appear seemingly out of nowhere.

One pelmet for multiple settings

Recessed ceiling pelmets are often used in residential settings, office spaces, hotels, and hospitals. EzyPelmet lends itself to all of these applications, elevating the aesthetic of the room.

Homes and Apartments

Residential designs often look for ways to conceal the shade fixings within a room, completely obscuring them when raised. EzyPelmet makes this possible by simply fixing the shade roller to the pelmet, nestling the track within the rabbet created.

Office and retail spaces

Adding concealed lighting within a recessed channel creates a distinct and refined detail within office and retail spaces. Elevating the space and creating a premium experience has never been simpler.

Hotels

For hotels and other accommodation, an uncluttered space creates a feeling of comfort and relaxation. A room is transformed into a space of luxury for occupants.

Hospitals

In hospital rooms, they contribute to a calming and welcoming environment for patients and medical staff alike. Individual patient rooms are less harsh, suitable for a place of healing.

Window and ceiling pelmets to pair with your EzyJamb

EZ Concept’s finishing products are designed to match the iconic EzyJamb®, together creating a complete aesthetic of clean lines. EzyPelmet is no exception, bringing the same concept to the perimeter of the room. The minimalist visual design serves as either the statement piece of the room, or as a backdrop for other features.

When designing and creating a premium, modern space, the finer details matter. Unsightly fixings can distract from the refined finishes in a modern space, however the introduction of EzyPelmet will preserve the design. Once the ceiling recess created by this system is complete, hardware and furnishings can be attached.
