Contemporary Corporate Interior Design
The new JFE Shoji America Holdings office located in California showcases how architectural door systems and finishing details can elevate the functionality and appearance of a modern workplace. The project required a seamless interior layout that prioritized openness, high-end functionality, and a strong embodiment of JFE Shoji’s corporate identity. To realize this vision, the office design moved away from traditional, bulky wooden trims around the doors, and from standard commercial aluminum door frames. Instead, they turned to EZ Concept’s premium range of flush finish opening solutions to create an environment where architecture and brand identity could blend seamlessly.
The space incorporates EzyJamb® door frames, EzyDor® flush door systems, RocYork® concealed hinges, Sliding Pocket Door systems, Flat AluBase® baseboards, and integrated premium RocYork® hardware. The result is a contemporary workspace that feels open, refined, and intentionally designed, with each detail contributing to the polished functionality.
Trimless EzyJamb Door Frames
Traditional door frames, casings, and bulky trims can interrupt the flow of minimalist interiors. To achieve a clean appearance, EzyJamb flush finish door frames were installed throughout the office. The jambs were paired with concealed hinges and solid core doors. This full Door Suite sits neatly with the walls, creating an easy transition between spaces.
The elimination of conventional trims delivers uninterrupted wall surfaces and crisp architectural lines throughout. This approach aligns perfectly with the contemporary workplace design, and contributes to a more relaxing and visually uncluttered environment.
The use of EzyJamb Inswing (ISD), allows the doors to swing into the offices, boardrooms, and workspaces, without disrupting the clean line aesthetics.
Brand Identity Through Bold Design
One of the most distinctive features of the project is the series of striking blue doors installed throughout. Finished in a color that reflects JFE Shoji’s branding, these doors provide a bold visual statement while maintaining the refined aesthetic of the workplace.
Against the clean white walls, the blue doors are a deliberate design feature, reinforcing brand identity and creating memorable visual touchpoints throughout the new space.
This striking visual feature was created using EzyDor premium solid-core doors. These were specified to fit perfectly within the EzyJamb and SlideSet® frames using EZ Concept’s custom routing service, ensuring efficient on site installation.
Premium RocYork Hardware
Concealed Hinges and Closers
To maintain the uninterrupted lines of the doors, RocYork RYST60 concealed hinges were used. These are completely invisible when the doors are closed, further enhancing the design of the workspace. With the ability to adjust on 3 axes, RocYork concealed hinges are a functional and aesthetic solution for modern commercial door designs. The RocYork Concealed Closer was also included to provide a discreet, slimline door-closing solution. Its concealed design minimizes visual impact while maintaining reliable closing performance, reducing door slamming, and helping to preserve the clean architectural appearance of the door assemblies.
Premium Handles
Ergonomic HW-DHL127 lever handles were installed throughout the fit-out, providing a consistent hardware solution that complements the overall aesthetic. The selection of coordinated RocYork hardware ensured visual continuity across the space while offering durability for high-traffic commercial use.
Creating Optimized Workspaces with SlideSet Pocket Doors
Using the SlideSet and CavKit® systems, the office pocket doors glide smoothly into the wall cavity, eliminating swing door conflicts. This creates a more adaptable and optimized environment for areas where traditional swing doors would impede traffic or consume valuable square footage. The CavKit trim kit pairs with SlideSet to eliminate the need for traditional door casing around pocket doors, creating a completely trimless door opening which enhances the layout. The pocket doors can recede entirely into the cavity when open, while providing complete privacy when closed against the CavKit closer cap.
To foster a quiet and productive work environment, the sliding doors were completed with an integrated SlideSet soft-close and soft-open hardware system. This eliminates slamming, drastically reducing potential noise in collaborative workspaces.
Finishing Touches
To further enhance the minimalist design, flat AluBase® baseboards were installed throughout. Their slim profile provides a refined wall-to-floor transition without the visual weight often associated with traditional skirting systems. Together with the flush door frames and concealed hardware, the AluBase baseboards contribute to the project’s cohesive architectural detailing.
The completed JFE Shoji America Holdings office successfully combines architectural innovation, workplace functionality, and brand expression. By abandoning standard trims in favor of EZ Concept’s flush finish solutions, the office feels more expansive and provides a sophisticated workplace environment.
